Story
As some of you will know, I will be taking up the challenge
of Ride for Sight (R4S)– Tokyo for 2016. The is definitely going to be the
toughest challenge I have ever done and have been training hard for it since
September 2015. R4S under the Seeing is Believing banner is now the most
successful fund raiser reaching USD1 Million over the past few years. So to
give some context, I thought of sharing some points…
Some stats of the R4S 2016.
- 4 days of riding from Kyoto to outskirts of Tokyo covering around 500 kms
- On Day 4 of the ride we will climb Mount Fuji – in total elevation gained for the 4 days will be in excess of 5000 meters.
- USD1 gives a child vitamin A protection for a year
- USD16 buys a pair of spectacles
- USD30 provides sight-restoring cataract surgery
- USD60 helps train one health worker
- USD120 funds pediatric cataract surgery
This is a self funded event where we 19 riders pay for all
our logistic arrangements, food, flights and miscellaneous expenses therefore all your donations go directly to charity.
I ask of you to give any amount that you are comfortable with and help me make a difference.
