Story
On the 10th September 2019 Oliver Wissenbach tragically lost his life. He was only 25 years old. His family found him laying peacefully at the bottom of a swimming pool in Menorca. Oli was an English teacher, and firmly believed in leaving the world a better place.
The 100 Schools Project is raising money to build 100 Schools in some of the poorest countries in the world, but we can't do it alone and we need your help. Thus far, fourteen schools have already been built and funding is well underway for the remaining eighty-six.The 100 Schools Project is partnered with the organisation BuildOn, which has extensive experience in the construction of facilities in underdeveloped countries and has already built 1600 operational schools over its history.
There aren’t many families that could emerge from the tragedy of loss with such a strong sense of unity, but to take such trauma and turn it into a selfless force for good speaks volumes of the strength and care of the Wissenbach’s. Of course, to anybody that knows this extraordinary family, it is of no surprise considering the generosity and kindness they extend to friends and strangers. Oliver Wissenbach’s name will now be forever synonymous with the provision of opportunity and education to the less fortunate.
Over the next few months I will put myself through a series of gruelling challenges in order to raise money for this fantastic cause. I decided to undertake this back in October whilst eating a Jaffa Cake. I will subject myself to the heights of mental and physical fatigue, I will fully explore the notions of tired legs and breathlessness. I do this all for your entertainment!
Thus far, I will be partaking in the following:
1. In March, I will take part in the David Goggins Challenge, a 4-mile run, every 4 hours, for 48 hours (Gross).
2. In May, I will be attempting the 3 Peaks Challenge, in which I will conquer the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours (Ewww).
3. In July, I will be attempting my first Olympic Triathlon. This involves a 1.5km open water swim, a 40km cycle and a 10 km run (Surely not).
I invite you to join me on this campaign by following my Instagram and Strava where there will be regular updates regarding my progress and training.
All I ask in return is for you to donate to this wonderful cause and smash my £1000 target.
