184 Kilometre Run · 31 May 2020

NHS Charities Together and its members across the UK are hugely grateful for the support received from so many since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Story

NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work right now in caring for COVID-19 patients.Together, let's show our respect and gratitude as they work tirelessly in the face of the virus. It's our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work.

I have been truly inspired by seeing so many people doing their bit to help the NHS staff and volunteers during these crazy times. For a while I've been thinking of completing a cumulative distance run but was a bit daunted by the commitment, not really being a distance runner and also unsure as to where to pick a distance from.

After the passing of Leeds United legend Norman Hunter after contracting Corona Virus it made my mind up about my virtual destination - the Mecca of European football itself - Elland Road.

I have calculated that from my front door to Elland Road and back home is just under 184Km - so I am going to attempt this during the month of May. Obviously I am still working full time and have a 15 month old so this will have to be completed over a number of runs fitted in alongside my normal domestic and professional responsibilities.

It still works out though to be more than a marathon a week for the 4 weeks of May - which to me is quite a feat.

I know money is really tight for some people right now due to furlough and reduced hours of work - but any form of donation will help. A friend of mine managed to raise over £1,000 for the same cause over Easter weekend alone playing fantastic musical requests, so this has set the pace and given me a target.

Thanks for reading and in advance to anyone digging deep. 💙
