Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So here is what I have done this summer - I have ran 75 competitive miles, over 9 different events to raise money for Mind - The Mental Health Charity.
The events I have ran are:
Derby 10K
Wollaton Park 10K
Nottingham 10K
Elvaston 10K
Stephen Price Memorial 10K
Loughborough 10 miles (26th September)
Robin Hood Half Marathon (29th September)
Crossdale 10K (6th October)
Birmingham Half Marathon (13th October)
There is a view of getting a charity place via Mind for a full Marathon in 2020.
But why? The reason I have chosen Mind, is that Mental Health issues have had a big effect on my family life, but also my personal life. Last year I was diagnosed with depression and it really hit me hard. There were days where I didn't speak to anybody, days where I didn't leave my bedroom and days where I would make excuses to stop interaction in my day to day life and if I am honest, I would not wish those feelings on my worst enemy.
Since I have opened up about my struggles, I have realised that near enough everybody has been effected by Mental Health - whether it be personally, via family or via friends.
I want this to raise awareness for people to speak up and acknowledge their struggles and the struggles of people around them. I am by no means an advocate of Mental Health, nor am I a professional that can give advice - but what I am is somebody who has been at the bottom and come through the other side and I want to share my journey.
Though all donations would be kindly appreciated, it isn't all about the money raised. If anybody reading this merely wants a conversation or to discuss how they are feeling, please let me know.
Sorry for the waffle, wish me luck and lets erase this stigma that Mental Health can't be spoken about.
Jack
