ALD Life is a patient support group and registered charity for patients and families with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN). Working to raise awareness and to support the children and  their families suffering with this debilitating disease.

My story...

On the 20th of August I set sail on what is likely to be the biggest challenge, both mentally and physically, of my life and what has been affectionately named by my wife, as my 'mid-life crisis gap year'.

As part of the crew taking part in this year's 'Round the World Clipper Yacht Race', the brainchild of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, I've chosen to take part in the full circumnavigation of the globe and aim to complete the 40,000 mile race which is split into eight legs and sees us sail across five oceans and six continents.

The fleet of twelve identically matched 70-foot sea faring racing yachts will be home for 11 months with a grueling 4 hour on, four hour off watch and will take me through some of the most treacherous waters in the world.

My aim throughout this trip is to update my followers with tales of my adventures, posting blogs, pictures and video clips with a hope that in return, they will dig deep and sponsor one or all, of my three incredible charities.

This is the Race of My Life...please help me make a
