Story
Having signed up for the Great North Run, 2023, I’m now questioning my own sanity. Firstly, I haven’t run in over 20 years, and will never be able to properly run, due to the injuries to my legs….so it’s the Great North WALK for me. Secondly, I have zero fitness. Finally, I haven’t walked any distance in years! However, after having an unhealed fracture to my femur for the last 4 years and finally getting it fixed, I feel liberated with my new, much improved mobility, and with that…. I’ve entered “ the run!”
My surgeon gave me the thumbs up to do “the run” 2 weeks ago, since then, I’ve tried to walk fast at every opportunity…. It’s tough, very tough. Serious training has now commenced. I have no idea if I’m going to complete ”the run” or not, but I’ll certainly give it my best shot.
So, if you’ve a couple of quid to spare, I’m wanting to raise some money for Sue Ryder, Wheatfields. Since losing my wonderful Mum to cancer in 2015, I’ve wanted to raise some money for Sue Ryder, Wheatfields, the charity that endlessly helped us during her last months, especially whilst she stayed at their Hospice for 6 weeks. At such a hard time, their support was incredible. And it’s about time I raised a little money to go towards the incredible care we received.
So, if you think I can achieve this ridiculous challenge and complete the half marathon in under 4 hours and have a couple of quid to spare please follow the link to donate, any amount is much appreciated!
