Story
I am incredibly excited to be running the London Marathon in April for Save the Children! Their crucial work protects the most vulnerable children in the world, in areas of conflict and danger where children often pay the highest price.
They need support now more than ever; 2022 was their busiest year in over a decade, with humanitarian disasters increasing in number and duration. Their early intervention in emergencies save children's lives. Save the Children and UNICEF are the 'providers of last support' when no one else can help.
The flooding in Pakistan has left 1/3 of the country underwater - the size of the UK - destroying two million homes and crops. Save the Children has helped over 16,000 people, prioritising nutrition for pregnant women and children, and providing temporary housing and learning centres.
The Ukraine crisis has caused the fastest and largest displacement of people in Europe since World War II. Save the Children has provided vital support for those fleeing, particularly getting children out of war zones and into neighbouring countries.
Over 60% of the world's hungriest live in conflict zones. The world is experiencing the widest hunger crisis in history, with 220 million people in dire need of food. The combination of climate change causing two year droughts in the Horn of Africa and the Ukraine crisis affecting supply chains and food prices has caused the mortality rate of vulnerable children to be 3 times higher than last year. Save the Children is providing clean drinking water, vaccinations and critical nutrition to mothers and children. It costs them 20p/day to feed a child in Somalia.
Save the Children have the ambition that no child shall die from a preventable cause by 2030.
JustGiving is the most efficient way to donate; the money is sent directly to the charity, saving them time and cost.
