I will walk 500 miles...for humanitarian aid · 3 October 2008
During October and November Melissa and I are walking the Camino de Santiago; a 500 mile trek across northern Spain. We are raising money for the International Rescue Committee because of their ongoing humanitarian projects. We would greatly appreciate any donations you are willing to make.
The Camino is an ancient pilgrimage route that covers most of Western Europe. We are walking from the south of France to the pilgrimage's end in Santiago de Compostela. The route passes through the Pyrenees mountains and covers the length of the Burgos plains.
We leave for France on the 14th October.
The International Rescue Committee goes to crisis zones to rescue and rebuild. They provide camps, clean water, food and medicine for refugees. You can learn more about their projects at http://www.theirc.org/what/index.html
Your money will go to supporting these actions as well as projects in Iraq, Darfur and the Congo.
Even something as small as 1p a mile of the walk will add up to £5.
Thank you for anything you can give.
We will be updating the blog with photos and diary entries as we go. The address is http://iwillwalkthecamino.blogspot.com/
Thanks again
Melissa and Julian
