Story
The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country. In 2021 we celebrated our 50th anniversary and are very proud to have raised over £9 million for people living with cancer during that time.Held every June, the highlight of our activities is The Ernest Cooper Macmillan Ride of Their Lives race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the famous Knavesmire course. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy a day with us and cheer these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lifetime.

I am so excited to be taking part in the Macmillan Ride of their Lives, at York Racecourse on the 11th June.
Over the next 5 months I will be trying to raise as much money as I possibly can, whilst preparing to ride a race horse down the Knavesmire at York.
Riding in the race is a huge challenge and to get ready I will be attending weekly jockey training sessions, undergoing a rigorous fitness programme and riding out at Mark Johnston’s.
As many of you will know, in 2015, with four young children, mum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Throughout nearly 18 months of gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments at the James Cook and the Friarage, she received wonderful care from the NHS staff, and fabulous emotional and practical support from the Macmillan nurses. I’ll be forever grateful to Macmillan for being such an incredible help at that time.
I am determined to raise as much as money as possible so that more people living with cancer will receive the same care, support and comfort when they need it most.
Any donation would be much appreciated.
Love,
Issy xx
