I will be running a half marathon on 29th May in London to raise money for Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group so that they can continue their fantastic work by supporting people in detention and beyond.

The UK is the only country in Europe that still detains people indefinitely for immigration purposes. Detention is a waste of time, resources and life. The long-term impact that detention has on people is shocking. Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group tirelessly calls and works for an end to indefinite detention.

Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group do such fantastic work in supporting people who are detained in Tinsley and Brook House. Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group offer practical support, befriending and advice to people who are detained and after detention too. Through the work of Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group, people are treated with dignity and respect.

The pandemic has been such a difficult time for small charities, with every cancelled event being a lost fundraising opportunity. Please donate and share if you can.

Our mission is to improve the welfare of people held in detention by offering friendship and support and advocating for fair treatment. We do this by visiting individuals, as well as working with other organisations to raise awareness of the call for a 28 day time limit to detention.
