#ISeePurple Networks

#ISeePurple · 17 November 2020
This JustGiving page has been put together to coordinate the fundraising activities of fellow business networkers around Leonard Cheshire’s #ISeePurple campaign.
Especial thanks to our charity partners Sterling Networks and our fellow business networking members for promoting and taking part in our campaign – there have been so many great photos and images across social media along with the use of the hashtag #ISeePurple and tag @LeonardCheshire
On 3rd December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Leonard Cheshire asked the public to ‘see purple’ - the colour of disability - to raise awareness of, and show solidarity with, people with disabilities.
Over the past few months, one in two disabled people reported that they felt lonely, with one in four of them saying that they felt lonely every day. And whilst many people felt isolated throughout the nationwide lockdown, most were able to rely on their personal technology to stay connected with friends and family. Almost half of disabled people don’t have access to a computer, and less than half have access to a smartphone – but we/you can help change that.
On or around Thursday 3rd December we dressed and themed ourselves, our virtual meetings, our pets, our websites, our online events, in fact anything … PURPLE and donated to Leonard Cheshire so that more disabled people can enjoy being connected to their family, friends, and loved ones this Christmas. Through our support Leonard Cheshire will reach disabled people through their programmes and give them access to the equipment and training they need to be digitally independent.
Thank you also to businesses who are staging events and making donations in lieu of corporate gifts and Christmas cards in order to support this digital inclusion campaign.
As business networkers we are well accustomed to connecting with people and connecting people. Thanks to #ISeePurple, we will use connectivity to enable connectivity.
Thank you for you for helping us to connect people with disabilities to their loved ones this winter.
