Story
Hey Everyone,
This summer I am working with Bristol Volunteers for Development Abroad (BVDA), on a project in Uganda for 7 weeks. BVDA is a student run, registered charity that encourages students to make a difference in developing countries and raise awareness of international development!
On my project, I will be working with the NGO, Little Big Africa based in Mbale. I will have a team of 6 and we will be travelling to Eastern Uganda to work in villages in the Manafwa district. Our main aim will be the construction of water tanks and fuel efficient stoves. We will also be staying in the community and teaching children about health and sanitation.
The main focus for us, is to leave a lasting impact. We want to make a substantial difference to the people in the village and the environment of Uganda. BVDA is a student run charity, we work collectively to develop the projects and train for the exhibition. This way, we can ensure that every penny we fundraise will go toward our projects and awareness.
In order to meet my fundraising target, I am going to carry out a SPONSORED SILENCE! For those of you who know me well, you will appreciate what a challenge this will be for my large, loud mouth. I will be carrying out a complete silence for 48 HOURS over the 10th and 11th of March! Kate Atwood, Danielle Dowding and Sophie Nelson will be my trustee guardians to take shifts in ensuring not one word leaves these lips!
I am determined to prove to everyone that I can keep quiet (but only for a good cause!) I would greatly appreciate ANY donation you all can afford, and please rest assured every penny will be going toward the project and the awareness!
Thank you in advance!
