MENTAL ILL HEALTH KILLS!

It kills joy and fun… it kills opportunities and dreams… it
kills relationships and hopes… and sometimes it takes lives.

Many things can help improve well-being, small things
sometimes, a word of encouragement from a colleague, a chat with a good friend, small acts of kindness, movement, time in nature, good sleep are all things that can make a difference. At times however, a little more is needed and the support of a professional can make a significant difference. Indeed, for some it can be life changing.

Cogwheel Counselling is a small charity offering affordable
counselling to the people of Cambridge and neighbouring areas. Cogwheel is celebrating its 35^th year in 2023. The Cogwheel Stride is a
fundraising event aimed at raising funds to ensure the service can continue to offer counselling to those of all ages who need it. The pandemic has undeniably had an impact on mental health for many, including young people. Many charities, Cogwheel included, have had a very challenging time to stay open and continue to support clients.

For these reasons, I have decided to dust my walking boots
and to walk 13.1 miles, a half marathon, to raise funds for this amazing service I am part of. As Head of Services at Cogwheel, I witness every day the care, creativity, professionalism and generosity of our team of staff and volunteers and the courage and resilience of our clients despite great adversity. Counselling changes lives and you can help me make a difference and continue to support people in distress by donating. I hope to raise £1000.
