Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
As many of you might know my beloved Grandfather, David Sharp, sadly passed away in October 2021, after losing his long fight with Myeloma.
Dave was the ultimate adventurer during his lifetime, he was a youth club leader, mountaineer and took on multiple epic challenges including some of the highest peaks in the world. (Dave at the top of Mont Blanc pictured above!). He was a loving husband to my Grandmother, Ann, pictured here together with their letter from the Queen on their 65th Wedding Anniversary!
Myeloma is a terminal blood cancer with no known cure which impacts the bone marrow in multiple areas of the body. This makes the bones break down and become very weak, which ultimately means mobility is limited, which was very difficult for Dave because he had been so active during his life.
The Myeloma UK charity who I am raising money, are driving groundbreaking research and were a great help to my grandparents for a number of years. Dave received all types of progressive and experimental treatments which, ultimately, we think prolonged his life. The specialist nurses at Myeloma UK were extremely knowledgeable and gave advice on different drugs and helped my grandparents connect with other patients and families in similar situations.
In order to raise awareness about Myeloma and raise money to go towards helping other patients, I wanted to do this challenge in Dave's memory and to celebrate his life.
I will be cycling 310km from London to Paris from 15th-18th September.
Please donate as much or as little as you can to this fantastic cause!
Your donations will really help me dig deep during the grueling cycle.
Thank you so much,
Izzy
