Well firstly, a big HELLO! to all you lovely sponsers! I am so excited that you have made it to this page, as I have found it something of a mission to set this thing up just for one run!

But anyway, more to the point: I AM RUNNING THE GREAT WEST RUN 2011 on the 1st May to raise money for one very special charity: Grain of Wheat International.

Last summer I went to Romania as a part of a Christian Missionary Internship to help on a children's camp for underpriviledged and orphaned children, which aimed to give them 10 days of amazing fun in an INCREDIBLE mountain setting, as well as incorporating the Christian message into the ethos of the camp. These kids were just hugely excited to be on this camp, as their lives have often been hard and sad. The love that we were able to give them was just amazing, as they have never been able to have the kind of love we may have experienced.

When I left, I was determined that one day I should raise some money for the charity that supports these kids and tries to give them a sense of a happier life through camps, provisions, etc. I was massively touched by my experience with the kids on camp, and I am so excited that I am able to do this run with them in mind.

I don't claim to be a person with stamina (!) so this run is going to be an ultimate test for me! The run is a 13 mile half marathon based in Exeter city (where I work and live) and is promoted by a sports company based in Exeter called IronBridge Runner. more than 3,000 people take part in this run every spring for all kinds of causes.

I would really value your support and donations for this charity and for the run, as I am in no doubt that any contribution-big or small that goes to Grain of Wheat International WILL help to make the lives of the children of Romania more fulfilling!
