I am raising £800 for a volunteering programme I have been chosen to take part in this summer. The programme I am going to work on is part of a scheme by TheDepartment for International Development to send young adults out to work on development issues under the name of International Citizen Service. The main purpose of myself and other volunteers will be to work on Human Rights campaign work within local communities in Ghana, Accra.

This internship will be a fantastic opportunity for me to extend my knowledge and understanding of human rights, and over all international development work. But most importantly to invest my time into a scheme that is really worthy, that strives for more equality and a higher standard of living in the developing world.

In running the Leeds half marathon I aim to raise awareness of the charity and the importance of human rights campaign work worldwide. The money I raise will go towards my trip, that will allow me to complete the internship, and will intern make a difference to individual’s life and wellbeing, when long term objectives are achieved.
