On the 8th of June I’ll be taking part in the Great North Swim - a one mile open water swim in lake Windermere. I’m swimming for St Mary’s Hospice, a charity who provided hospice at home care for my dad. Hospice at home is more resource intensive than the alternatives, but allows people to stay in the environment where they feel happiest and most comfortable. For my family, dad staying at home was the best thing for all of us.

I wasn’t a swimmer before signing up to this event, so rest assured some work has gone in to this! This page is making a late appearance because up until recently, I wasn't actually convinced that I wouldn't need to be fished out by the life guards half way through!
