Story

Isaac experienced a Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) event when he was born in September 2023 due to getting stuck during birth. This means that he went without sufficient oxygen which caused an injury to his brain. He was cared for amazingly, including his whole body being cooled for 72 hours in the NICU. He spent his first 3 weeks there but we learned that the injury would affect his movement and coordination for the rest of his life.

This became a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, which means that he will find his mobility and motor skills much harder. Isaac is amazing and is working with incredible determination to surprise us with what he can do. To allow him to continue this, he is receiving physiotherapy at Children in Motion, who provide specialist treatment using the MAES approach. We are already seeing great results in Isaac. They are also teaching us how to help Isaac at home.

Treatment is £105 per hour, and we would love to be able to take Isaac weekly. We are also planning on some intensive weeks of daily therapy a few times a year. The cost is obviously a challenge so any help would make a difference to what we are able to provide for him. We also expect this treatment to be ongoing. Isaac is exceeding expectations with this therapy, and we are so proud of him.

We are using Tree of Hope as a fundraising partner to benefit from giftaid and give our supporters the confidence that any donations will be handled well.

7.5% of all donations to Tree of Hope in relation to this appeal will be allocated to the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope to cover our core operating costs.

If we raise insufficient funds, or surplus funds, then the funds will be used, if appropriate, to fund support for our child’s needs in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objects. If in those circumstances we are unable to use all or part of the funds for the benefit of our child in accordance with Tree of Hope’s charitable objectives, then any funds that cannot be used will be transferred to be used for the general charitable purposes of Tree of Hope.
