Story

Right now, today, children in East Africa are facing a desperate crisis caused by prolonged drought, soaring food prices and conflict. The United Nations has formally declared a famine in parts of southern Somalia.

This crisis is getting worse and we need to act now to save lives.

Dysentery, next to malaria and measles is the number three killer in East Africa. Lack of fresh water is also responsible for up to 75%  of deaths in remote villages. Diarrheal diseases caused by polluted water are common across the developing world - killing 5,000 children every day.

Children and women are the most vulnerable. More than 2 million children under five in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia are acutely malnourished, including almost 500,000 children suffering from life-threatening severe acute malnutrition.

We are scaling up life-saving efforts for children in therapeutic feeding, providing access to safe water and sanitation, as well as preventing the spread of killer diseases including measles through vaccination campaigns.

We are the main provider of ready to use therapeutic food in all three countries, but we desperately need more funds in order to help us reach every child.

Please donate now.
