Story
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
After almost a year of training, gradually increasing from 6 to 18 hours a week, I will be competing in this year's UK Ironman.
The event takes place on the 7th September, starting at 6am in the grounds of Sherbourne Castle, for details see http://iron.ironmanuk.com/.
The Ironman event consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim, followed by 112 miles on the bike and then a full marathon, a run of 26.2 miles. The maximum permitted time is 17hours, I will be aiming for a time of 14 hours, but will be glad to just finish, in one piece!
I am raising funds for Kirkwood Hospice who celebrated it's 20th year in 2007. In 2007 it cost the hospice £3.4million to maintain its services and over £2.7million of this total was raised from voluntary sources. However, thanks to support from throughout the community Kirkwood has been able to provide its services for the last 20 years, free of charge, to those who need it.

Finally, thanks to my wife, Angie, for all her support and encouragement, who made it possible for me to fit all the training in, and my brother Matt, who talked me into doing it and has been a great help.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. Kirkwood Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
