Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Irene and Peter's JustGiving page.

In August we are travelling with 19 other Utility Warehouse Mini's to tour Northern France for Charity. We are going to drive the route of the Le Mans 24 hour race and then on to Paris to drive the start of the famous Paris-Dakar rally. I (Irene) have never driven abroad before and am relying on the superb navigational skills of my husband Pete!!

We're raising money to build a completely new village for the Yanadi tribe of Chirala in Andhra Pradesh - two hundred miles north of Chennai(Madras). They live as squatters on Government land and could be evicted at any time .They were a semi-nomadic people but with all the land now owned it's pretty hard to be a nomad.

They desperately want to come into the 21st Century without losing a fabulously calm and serene way of life.

They have not begged for our help and want to pay for the plots of land we will put their huts on. Once they can buy their land we will recycle your generous donations into providing sanitation, medical care and education etc. All the things we take for granted.

Visit our website at http://www.helpthevillage.co.uk/ to find out more.
