Salaam/ peace to u all,
Uni is now over & I want to do something... something that will help make the world a slightly better place...... SO I took up the Snowdon Trek 2009!
Date: Saturday 1st August 2009
Venue: Mount Snowdon, Snowdonia National Park, Wales
The challenge: To climb the tallest mountain in England & Wales to raise money for the innocent victims of the ongoing conflict in Pakistan (inshaAllah).
The UN report over 2.5 million people have fled their homes, almost half of these are children; scared, confused, running from their homes with nothing but the clothes they wear, not knowing who will support them. A lack of funding means all the camps set up for the displaced are at maximum capacity with insufficient food, clean water and medical supplies.
Muslim Aid swiftly responded to the crisis setting up 400 tents, providing shelter, bedding, safe drinking water, food ration packs, utensils, clothing & an emergency mobile hospital, for 2800 people. However over 10,000 families are without these basic necessities, and with your generosity Muslim Aid can further their work to reach out to more of the needy. Help prevent what rapidly threatens to be the largest humanitarian crisis in the country's history.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Muslim Aid gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
If you'd prefer another method of donating or want to make a pledge for later on, please just drop me an e-mail at iram_a2k@yahoo.co.uk.
Please do your bit- dig deep and donate now!
Thank you/ jazakAllah khair

UPDATE- Thursday 16 July:
Only 16 days to the trek... time to intensify the training & the sponsorships. Gotta reach that fundraising target to reach that hair-raising summit!
Many thanks & duas to my offline sponsors: Mummy & Abbu, Daadi, Sana & Salman, Shahida, Shehla aunty, Nayyer aunty, Shagufta aunty, uncle Sami, uncle Babul, the mosque girlies & aunties, Nanabba, big Mumani, Afsheen, Sabiha & Sameer.
You may have heard the Pakistan conflict is settling and some of the millions of uprooted people have began to return home, alhamdulillah. But it's not the end... thousands still remain in refugee camps and the returning need to be assured their basic needs- running water, power, health services & security.
“I sometimes have the feeling that the international community and the media have not given the depth and extent of this humanitarian crisis the attention that it deserves... We hope the donors will respond generously to what is a continuing and very large-scale humanitarian problem.” (John Holmes- UN Emergency Relief Coordinator)
