Ipswich Town Ladies will take on an Ipswich Town Talk XI on Thursday 24th May in a " Battle Of The Sexes" charity match, to raise money for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).
Why are we doing it:
Men and women very rarely go head to head on the football pitch, so "bragging rights" will be on the line when the two sides come together in this unique match. We wanted to create an event that has never been done before and we hope will be incredibly successful in raising much needed money for a deserving local charity.
The Chosen Charity:
EACH support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Their care and support is tailored for the needs of all family members and delivered where the families wish – in their own home, at hospital, in the community or at one of three hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham. They are also a charity close to the heart of Ipswich Town Football Club, with the club doing their bit to support EACH in multiple ways, including carrying the charity's logo on both the men's and women's match shirts.
Our Opponent:
Ipswich Town Talk are an independent Ipswich Town fan media outlet perhaps best known for their successful podcast. ITT Members Ross Halls and Kieren Standley, are both currently employed by Ipswich Town Ladies FC as our official media team, in the roles of Club Photographer and Media Officer respectively. The boys have assembled a squad of approximately 15 players for the game and will be managed by current ITLFC goalkeeper Leanne Smith, who is currently out with a long-term knee injury.
Match Info:
The match will take place at Bloomfields, home of Needham Market FC, on Thursday 24th May, Kick-Off 7:45pm. Anyone wishing to attend the game will be asked to make a donation to EACH on entry to the ground. If you wish to donate online, please visit our Just Giving page here - (insert link when created)
We hope to see as many people as possible come down to support the event and more importantly, raise as much money as possible for a fantastic local charity. For further information, please keen an eye on our official social media platforms.
