I work for In Place of War and am fundraising as part of our project Around the World in 80 Raves. In Place of War is a global organisation that uses creativity in places of conflict as a tool for positive change. We enable grassroots change-makers in music, theatre and across the arts to transform a culture of violence and suffering into hope, opportunity and freedom.

Around the World in 80 Raves is a worldwide fundraising effort x global rave that is raising money for music development projects in two areas of conflict - São Paulo, Brazil and Lavender Hill, South Africa. The money collectively raised will support these communities, engaging young people away from gangs, offering them a safe space to build positive futures and bring hope and opportunity to those who live with the constant threat of crime, unemployment and conflict.

I do very little exercise currently, so if you needed further reason to donate - I will be getting moving & aiming to cover 100km over the month of October, to go towards the collective distance goal of 11,600 km. I'll be doing a combination of running, walking, cycling, (wild) swimming & dancing! 

And on Saturday 9th October the In Place of War team will be taking part in a 24-hour DANCEATHON! From midnight to midnight, we'll be passing the baton as we dance all day... there won't be a moment where one of our team isn't dancing!

Each weekend of October will be soundtracked by streamed raves by amazing DJs from all over the world, celebrating the efforts of all the fundraisers being sponsored to complete their distances.
