Story
The Institute of Directors London and South Director of the Year Awards 2020 will be supporting Childline - an NSPCC life changing srevice.
With your support, we aim to be able to fund the recruitment and training of as many Childline Counsellors as possible - the cost of doing so is £1600 per Counsellor.
This is why it is so vital to ensure that we can support Childline:
- A child contacts Childline every 25 seconds - They talk about things like bullying, self-harm and depression. Problems that children often feel they can’t talk to anyone else about
- Since the beginning of lockdown there have been nearly 22,000 counselling sessions about mental health concerns, including almost 2,000 with 11-year-olds and under. Counselling sessions about this topic peaked in May, when the service delivered 15% more than the pre-lockdown monthly average.
- Childline are growing increasingly worried that children are the hidden victims of the coronavirus crisis, with Childline providing a vital lifeline to children whose counselling sessions have shown that mental health is their top concern.
- Throughout the pandemic young people have told counsellors they are feeling low, unhappy, overwhelmed and more recently talked about the anxiety they feel as we look to come out of lockdown
With your generosity and support Childline can be here to help those young people find their voice.
To all our members of the IoD, thank you for supporting our chosen charity for 2020 - at times like these when children are at increased risk of abuse, funding is needed more than ever.
Thank you
