We are Phil and Dan. Rowing the Atlantic is a bit like the conception of a child. We get ready for the challenge, try to be financially secure, build up to the event and then hope to reach the finish line. Some make it successfully, and unfortunately, many don't. Whether they were ill prepared, had faulty equipment or merely didn't make the start line. 

Both myself and Dan have been there in one way or another. Me and my wife tried for several years, only finally conceiving with ongoing help from a fertility specialist. Dan and his wife are currently going through IVF with the hope of achieving the end goal.

We both want to raise awareness for fertility issues (especially in men) and raise money for Fertility network UK, to help with the ongoing support offered by them to the many couples around the UK currently having fertility issues.

We all need to be more open and supportive about the potentially taboo subject of infertility. Just talk to each other. FNUK offers much needed support in these situations across the minefield that is infertility.
