Story
Interel has decided to contribute to a charity, ActionAid, working directly on the streets of Nepal following the destructive earthquake of 7.8 magnitude on Saturday 26 April.

Why are we doing this?
We know people who are caught up in this tragedy. A former colleague of ours was in Kathmandu when the earthquake struck. The earthquake was also felt as far away as Delhi, where our colleague Preeti felt tremors of 5 magnitude.
The death toll is currently around 5,000, but it is feared that this number may increase to around 10,000 in the coming days, as rescue crews gain access to remote villages. 8,000 people are also reported to be injured.
More than a quarter of the population of Nepal have been affected, according to the UN, and are in desperate need of food, water and medical supplies. With many of them now homeless, the fear of aftershocks still remain in the region, as well as the spread of disease.
There is also the danger of buildings collapsing, and even more people being injured or killed during the rescue efforts.
Other areas were affected, with the earthquake triggering an avalanche at Mount Everest, where at least 18 people tragically lost their lives.
Whilst there are many organisations supporting the aid effort in the region, Interel has chosen to support ActionAid. ActionAid, an international aid agency, is currently working with those on the ground to get aid to those who need it most, and has worked in the region for many years. ActionAid was previously involved in earthquake preparedness training in the region.
All our donations, when added together, will go a long way in helping the relief efforts. For example:
• £50 will provide 20 blankets for homeless families
• £75 will provide 5 emergency supply kits, including food and clothes
• £100 will provide 20 tarpaulins to protect those sleeping in the streets
No matter how small, your donation will make a big difference to those suffering in Nepal.
All donations made will be used specifically for those affected by the Nepal earthquake.
