Story
At I4B, we introduced a wellbeing initiative to encourage us to check in with ourselves more often, taking care of our mental and physical health during the Covid19 pandemic.
As a team, we started a weekly running club, where we were inspired to get away from our desks, get some fresh air and enjoy the sights of Birmingham.
This sparked the idea that we could have a combined goal, to improve each of our fitness levels and aspire to do some good for the community where we run.
We chose to take part in the Great Birmingham Run as it would be a huge challenge for each of us and we would be able to raise money for a local charity.
Together, we decided that we would raise money for Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital, as it is so close to us and does such monumental work across the Midlands. Our very own Luke Moseley has a closer connection to the Hospital, as that is where his lovely mom has worked for the past 13 years, looking after poorly children in the nutritional care unit.
Because of this, we get to hear first hand about the tremendous hard work that each person within the team puts in every day and all of the great work they do.
Covid19 affected the team, as external fundraising events couldn't always take place and the hospital was unable to accept gift donations, which unfortunately deprived the children and families who were patients at the time.
For this reason, 6 members of the I4B team, have signed up to run the Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 1st May 2022, some completing the Birmingham Half Marathon and others the 10k to raise money for such a great cause.
Our I4B runners are...
- Phil Moore;
- Arianne Atkinson;
- Cecily Price;
- Alex Hughes;
- Luke Moseley;
- Gemma Davies.
Any donations, big or small will be greatly appreciated and just the encouragement that we need to get to the finish line!
