On the 24th January 2021, Peter Corcoran very sadly passed away. He was the beloved husband of Tonet and awesomely funny father to  Sarah-Jayne, Katie and Shannon. 

A huge Aston Villa fan, so great was his passion and even greater was his belief that he was a jinx to his beloved team. He would not go to the match nor would he watch the game live. An old school man as he was, he would instead have teletext running awaiting the game updates!! Now that’s dedication to the cause and perfectly sums up his devout following. UTV!! 

He had a few chronic health issues including COPD. The effects of a COVID-19 ravaged his already terribly damaged lungs and although he fought so very hard and so incredibly bravely, it just wasn’t enough. 

As a family we do not want his passing to be in vain. In a time where we can not extend to his friends an invitation to his funeral or celebration of his life, we would like to ask that if possible you pay your respects by giving whatever you can to a charity that is associated with his illness. Or if you wanted to send flowers, could we ask rather than do that, please consider a donation to our chosen charity. 

The British lung foundation has for 30 years spent over 30 million pounds on research into all lung conditions. Finding ways to treat, prevent and cure lung conditions. 

1,200,000 people in the UK are living with COPD, 114,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with COPD each year. 

If we can just help one person following the heartbreak of losing our Dad/Husband then we will all be able take some comfort from that fact.

Our research into COPD has helped to develop the use of life-changing treatments like pulmonary rehabilitation. It’s helped researchers to understand how damage occurs in the lungs of people who have COPD – so they can identify targets for new treatments that can stop the disease in its tracks.

Our research has also looked at how COPD may be linked to other conditions like dementia. By funding research that is investigating different avenues, our research will lead to better treatments, better care and a cure for COPD.
