We provide support & information to help people live better lives with PH
Story
As a Fundraiser, it is almost part of my job description to sign up for a fundraising challenge and I try to do this annually. I haven’t targeted many of you for money in a while and so set the Royal Parks half marathon as my challenge at the beginning of this year and started training. Anyway, I managed to find the best excuse to get out of the most challenging event I’d ever committed to and for those of you who don’t know, Mat and I are expecting our first child in March. As I’m no Paula Radcliffe, I have been unable to continue training for this event (it’s hard enough taking one person around the course – let alone two!) so my lovely husband, Mat, has been kind enough to take my place so that the charity does not lose out. I also roped my two best friends into running the event with me and have left them to go it alone (sorry Sam and Rhys!)
Now to the important part. I signed up for this to raise vital funds for my beautiful friend Lucy who sadly lost her life to Pulmonary Hypertension last year at only 24. Lucy was such a loving and giving individual and to see this dehabilitating disease take away her independence and ultimately her life is one of the hardest things Mat and I have witnessed. We want to raise awareness of this condition and ask that you pledge as much as you feel led to help others beat this awful condition. Experts say that they will be able to find a cure for pulmonary hypertension but there is still lots of research needed and this is only possible with support from individuals like you so please please help us change the lives of all those affected.
Thank you so so much.
