After a chance meeting with Martyn ‘Parc y Marl’ in a silage field in New Zealand in 1999, Gareth “Kiwi” Dalley made his first visit to Llysyfran in 2000 to pick up where he and Martyn left off.
Gareth quickly made himself at home in Pembs working for a local silage contractor and joining Llysyfran Young Farmers Club (very much as a social member!).
Over the next 6 years Gareth would return to Pembrokeshire to work each summer before heading home to do the next silage season in New Zealand.
As Gareth’s own contracting and farming businesses grew in NZ his trips to Wales became less frequent. But, in 2014, he cemented his connection with Pembrokeshire when he married local girl Olivia and they started their lives together in New Zealand with regular visits back to Pembrokeshire.Tragically in 2020 Gareth was diagnosed with incurable Bowel Cancer. Over the next 11 months Gareth bravely attempted every possible treatment but sadly passed away aged 42 in April 2021, leaving Olivia and 2 young children. Llysyfran YFC are proud to organise this charity tractor run in memory of Gareth, a much loved former member with all proceeds going to Bowel Cancer UKDonating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
