Story
I will be walking just over 60 miles along the Leeds Country Way - that’s double the ‘Big 30’ challenge!!
I’ll be splitting the 62 miles into 6 sections and walking around 10 miles at a time to make sure that I’m home by dark. Thanks to Winter for the short days! ❄️
Although I’d love to make the challenge as difficult as possible and would love to do it all in a week, I’ve got a lot of study deadlines coming up, so will be doing a section each week:
Week 1
- Golden Acre to Lofthouse Lodge (5 miles)
- Lofthouse Lodge to Scarcroft Hill (5 miles)
10 miles in total
Week 2
- Scarcroft Hill to Barwick-in-Elmet (4 miles)
- Barwick-in-Elmet to Garforth (5 and a half miles)
9 and a half miles in total
Week 3
- Garforth to the River Aire (5 and a half miles)
- River Aire to Carlton (6 and a quarter miles)
11 and 3/4 miles in total
Week 4
- Carlton to East Ardsley (5 miles)
- East Ardsley to Scotchman Lane (5 and a half miles)
10 and a half miles in total
Week 5
- Scotchman Lane to Cockersdale (4 miles)
- Cockersdale to Thornbury (5 and half miles)
9 and a half miles in total
Week 6
- Thornbury to A65 near Rawdon (5 and a half miles)
- A65 near Rawdon to Golden Acre Park (5 miles)
10 and a half miles in total
Hope Pastures rescue, rehabilitate and re-home horses, ponies and donkeys across the North. We also provide the opportunity for people to meet the animals and learn about them and how to look after them.Donations to the charity help to prevent suffering and to improve and save lives. 95p of every £1 you donate goes directly to help the animals. To raise money, we have launched the #HopePasturesBig30 Challenge. It is an all-inclusive virtual challenge and we are asking you to raise £30 for our 30 on-site homes! Why not base your activity around the number 30 as well? Your challenge could be active (riding, running, football) or not (tack cleaning, baking, knitting). The choice is yours - we can't wait to see your ideas!
