Story

Edith McNaughton born in Jamaica 27th March 1938, wife to Hubert McNaughton, mother to Veronica and Majorie and to grandmother Sharmaine, Angel and Dane.  Unfortunately we learned on 8th July 2020 the she had inoperable stage three pancreatic cancer. The immediate family cared for her at home during her final months. It was her wish that she did not go into hospital she wanted to be at home until the end.

Fortunately July 22nd she celebrated her 46th Wedding anniversary and  6th August Jamaican Independence at home where she was able to enjoy time in her garden with family on these special occasions. These were our last memories with her.  Sadly Edith left us at 9.30pm on Sunday 25th October 2020 at the grand age of 82. God was ready for his Angel...

Edith was a christian, she also was a keen gardener and won several awards for her front garden flower arrangements for several years running. She loved to travel around Europe and in her later years she enjoyed several cruises around the Caribbean. Her last cruise being for the Christmas holidays in 2019.  She returned from that trip feeling well and full of energy. The sun was always a great tonic for her.

Edith's funeral took place on Friday 27th November, it was a small ceremony due to the COVID 19 guidelines. It was her wish not to send flowers but to donate money to a worthy cause. We have chosen Pancreatic Cancer Action.

We aimed to raise £500 during November. We 'turned it purple' and friends and family wore a hint of purple to her funeral on 27th November. The purple colour theme ran throughout the funeral from the flowers, the order of service to the feathers in the head dress of the horses. We aim to raise awareness to of those who have died to pancreatic cancer and honour the memory of Edith with this fundraiser.

Feel free to share this page and raise awareness of Pancreatic Cancer and this charity who specifically focuses on improving cancer survival rates through early diagnosis.
