Story
Scared, excited, curious.. ahem... ahem..
Someone has already used the expression, "I must be crazy enough to take a plunge from an aircraft at 10K feet. "
As I approach my next birthday, I will put my trust in two people, my tandem expert skydiver to land me safely from 10K feet and you to help me ensure I raise my target fund and more.
That is right; I am celebrating my birthday by fundraising for Home-Start CHAMS. This year I am Skydiving (tandem) on Sunday 27th May 2018 the day before my birthday to support the cause of HomeStart CHAMS.
You are most welcome to join and cheer me for the jump. The drop zone location can be found here: https://www.goskydive.com/contact-us/
The skydiving is organised by GoSkydive, and they have advised:
- Friends and family can join me at 8 AM so that you don't miss the fun.
- Skydiving is a weather dependent activity. Be prepared to stay at the venue till late, if you are planning to be at the site to support me. If the weather proves to be too harsh for the skydive, the event may be cancelled on the day.
Home-Start CHAMS is a small charity based in Crawley, dedicated to giving vulnerable local children the best possible start in life. A team of trained and supervised volunteers visit families with a child under the age of 5, within the family home to provide practical and emotional support. Some examples of support that Home-Start extended are to
- a little boy whose brother is severely disabled that their family can rarely go out
- the children who fled with their young mum to escape domestic violence and were living in poverty and rural isolation
- the young children who were struggling to cope with the sudden demise of their mum
Volunteers visit these and many other families every week, to help parents overcome their challenges and support young children’s early development. They also run family groups in Crawley and Horsham, for families with young multiple birth children.
