Story

Why am I running the London Marathon?

On March 3rd 2021, Sarah Everard was abducted and killed under false pretences by a police officer whilst walking home in London. The exact location where Sarah was kidnapped on Poynders Road in Clapham was 50 metres from my flat. There is no reason that, after walking that exact route every day for 3.5 years, it could have been me.

It is in memory of Sarah that I will complete the London Marathon and support a charity that supports and protects women and children. ActionAid is working to end violence, provide protection and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere can create the future they want.

Whilst Sarah's story is not mine, I want to help ensure that safety is not a privilege and price that under any circumstance anyone should pay for. When walking home, whether it’s 3pm or 3am, we all deserve to feel safe and protected.

My page donations will be sent direct to the charity in a fast and secure way. All donations are greatly appreciated - thank you so much for your support and I look forward to the journey ahead.
