We will need to raise over £150,000 to extend and improve our Scout hut, Trotsworth Hall in Virginia Water. We are taking a phased approach to the project with an initial target of £15,000. This could cover primary outlays to kick start our build.

Story

Trotsworth Hall has hardly changed since the Scouts set up the Virginia Water group in 1952. It has poor heating, no insulation and no double glazing making it bitterly cold in the winter months. Currently, it is not accessible for children who are differently-abled and can only cater for 25 Scouts at any time, meaning the Group is having to limit numbers. The Scouts, along with their parents and the Groups volunteer leaders are taking action to find the funds for the improvements and are looking for members of the community and local businesses to help. Debbie Foster, Group Scout Leader said: Trotsworth Hall is a well loved and well used space but simply does not meet the criteria for a modern community building, particularly one used by children on a weekly basis. Weve always made sure its a safe environment but now we need to invest so we can get it up to modern standards and, most importantly include as many children as possible from the surrounding area." About the campaign

We will need to raise over £150,000 to extend and improve our Scout hut, Trotsworth Hall in Virginia Water. We are taking a phased approach to the project with an initial target of £15,000. This could cover primary outlays to kick start our build.

About the charity

Our Troop was formed in 1950 with Trotsworth Hall as its base, however this aged building is very rundown now, defying health & safety regulations and restricts the number of youth members that we can accommodate. Therefore 1st Virginia Water Scouts Group are embarking on a major property improvement programme which includes new disabled access, creating more space for our growing pack, and a safe & warm place to run activities at all weather. Please help us to raise money to secure Scouting in Virginia Water for future generations to come. In this day and age it is even more important to build a sense of community for our children and give our children more confidence, responsibility, a broader set of friends, and a chance to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise, adventure and an extended family.
