Over 200,000 people are diagnosed with either Alzheimer’s or Dementia every year - 5/6% of sufferers develop Alzheimer’s before the age of 65 - this is an illness which the effects can be not only devastating for the sufferer but also for those close to them.
Alzheimer’s Research looks for ways to spot symptoms, make diagnosis’ sooner, as well as research in to new innovative ways to treat this disease with the ultimate goal of prolonging the sufferers quality of life for as long as possible.
My Granny suffered with dementia in the last few years of her life and while she managed to maintain some form of independence until she sadly passed away in November of 2020 others unfortunately aren’t lucky.
Seeing first hand how the effects of dementia can affect the individual as well as friends and family around them has influenced me in wanting to help make a change.
Heights have never been my favourite thing but I can only imagine how frightening it must be to forget your happy memories, your loved ones names and in severe cases losing the ability to communicate and look after yourself. So what better to way to support this charity than facing one of my own biggest fears, although I can almost hear my Gran telling me to just have a bake sale.
Any donation big or small will massively appreciated not just by me but by anyone that has known, does know or will know someone affected by this disease - thank you for the support❤️
