Story
After not getting a place in the London Marathon for 2021, I decide to enter the virtual marathon for the same 26.2 miles completed remotely. For anyone who knows me, this may sound crazy 😂. I’ve never been particularly athletic or sporty and I have not long recovered from knee surgery just last year, after over a year of physiotherapy prior.
I chose to do this mainly for myself. The London Marathon has been a challenge I have wanted to take on for a while now. However, completing something as large and challenging as this gives me an opportunity to give back to other people and help them through challenges they may be facing. This is why I am asking for donations for the charity Mind.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England and I can only imagine the impact the recent pandemic has had on this. Mental health support it something that is needed by everyone, if not for themselves directly, then most likely for somebody they care about.
I completed the marathon on 03/10/2021 in an active time of 6 hours and 59 mins (not including the time to charge my phone - tracking app sucked out all the battery 😬) . To many this may not seem like a particularly fast time but this is a big achievement for me. It also probably didn’t help that I didn’t train before the day - trust that I am feeling very sore and regretting that now 😂.
I would be very grateful if you could spare what you can towards this cause. Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
