Story
Once again, an IMO team, comprising staff members and delegates, took part in the annual London Nightrider bike ride to raise funds for the Mission to Seafarers, an extremely relevant and worthy charity. The ride (50 or 100 km) took place during the night of 9-10 June 2018. All Team IMO riders finished in fine style!
Piracy, shipwreck, abandonment and separation from loved ones are just a few of the problems merchant seafarers face - as they always have. Today, they may also face arbitrary imprisonment and long periods without shore leave because of immigration and security fears. Around the world, the Mission to Seafarers provides help and support to the 1.2 million men and women who face loneliness, discomfort and danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.
The IMO team is: Unni Einemo (IBIA), Fred Kenney, Gerard Kenny (LISCR), Ingrid López-Cardona, and Andy Winbow.
As you may know, some of us did the “Flying Angels” ride in the New Forest in 2012, 2013 and 2014. This was organized by the Mission to Seafarers itself, but since 2015 they have chosen to piggy-back on a larger fundraising ride, NightRider London, rather than organizing their own event. The aim remains the same: to raise as much money as possible for the Mission.
Please give generously.
Thanks in advance.
