Hi everyone,
As I'm sure most people visiting this page are aware of our tragedy but for anyone who isn't....
On Sunday 11th March 2012 our little miss Lily-Mae was with her Nan and sister on holiday, they had had a lovely weekend and were off to feed the ducks, Lily-Mae loved to feed the ducks, she adored everything about nature. They were crossing the road to the swannery when they were struck by two motorbikes and a third managed to not strike any of them. Annabella received some quite nasty cuts and bruises, Kaycee-Ann had a bad head injury a broken arm and was pretty bumped and bruised everywhere, their Nan was very badly injured and will never totally recover from her injuries but she is alive and well at home with her husband now, unfortunately Lily-Mae was the first to be hit. She suffered unsurvivable head injuries, two collapsed lungs, every rib was broken, her arms and one shoulder was broken she was in a really bad way. She was treated at the roadside by a wonderful lady we have been lucky enough to meet until the ambulance crews arrived, Lily-Mae was airlifted to Southampton hospital and the utmost care was given to her, she was pain free and totally unaware. When we arrived with her she was so badly injured it broke my heart into a million pieces seeing my little girl like that.
Over the next few hours we sat with her and talked to her, stroked her hair and kissed her head, she slowly left, by the morning her injuries had gotten the better of her and she had no brain activity left so we decided it was time. We asked as many people to leave as they could and John and I climbed on the bed either side of her, the nurses removed the equipment that was keeping her alive and she passed away in her Mummy and Daddy's arms. I thought my heart couldn't break anymore than when I saw her first but it could! It felt like it had stopped all together. The pain and heartache was the start of a long period of sadness for our family!
I am eternally grateful for the time we had with Lily-Mae she truly was a ray of sunshine, she made everyone laugh and smile, she made you happy on a sad day. I will miss her every moment of every day until we are together again.
So each year since we have put together a team of elite athletes (hehe) that love to come together to raise money for some really important charities that are close to our hearts in the memory of a little girl who love to get dirty, loved to spend time outdoors and who touch the hearts of everyone who knew her and even some who didn't.
The Devon air ambulance was one of two that airlifted Lily-Mae and her Nan.
The RMCTF and the charities that are umbrellaed by it helped us in massive ways after Lily-Mae passed not least by helping to cover the costs of a beautiful celebration of life service.
Please donate and give as much or as little as you can!
I love you all
