Story
Please dig deep and give your support for the children at my mums orphanage in India. I am raising funds to help her support the lives of orphaned and abandoned children in Delhi. As well as asking for your support in general I will be doing a TEN MILE sponsored walk (which should actually be illegal, but you gotta do what you gotta dol!) on April 6th which I would love to have you sponsor! (More details about this to follow very soon.) But first let me tell you about the Orphanage...
The Immanuel Orphanage is a large part of my life. I actually watched my mum leave her entire family and comfortable life in England, in 2004 to live in a remote part of India without electricity but with lots of mosquitos and wild animals, in order to build an Orphanage from scratch for the helpless. I watched her give up all that she had ever possessed in order to provide a future for children she had not even yet seen. I then watched her take in child after child and give each precious young one a tomorrow that they would perhaps otherwise never have known.
And so over the years I have watched broken children that have been violated, abused and abandoned come through the doors of the Orphanage and I have seen them beautifully restored over time in their confidence and capacity to love again...I have seen them once again laugh with abandon and I have seen their grieving hearts heal.
I have seen before my very own eyes young lives that were given less than days to live, blossom into healthy joyful, carefree and fearless children who dream big because they live in an atmosphere of expectation and hope. I have seen deaf and mute children receive their hearing who are now singing with joy. I have seen children come to the Orphanage unable to control their cursing, stealing, fighting and sulking become children of abundance, self control and peace.
I have seen young lives that were discarded and abandoned completely redeemed to become creative, educated and confident souls who aspire to be the very best they can. By visiting this Orphanage year after year I have seen so very much that I would never ever have even have had the opportunity to encounter if it wasn't for this wonderful place that my mum felt the burning hunger to build so that so many broken lives could be restored. It's a priviledge to have witnessed this and see all that has been established. Yet I have seen my mum for the last ten years, often alone, selflessly take all that she has month after month and pour it into this Orphanage - and with every month that goes by she has managed to scrape through with the help of a small amount of donations from wonderful supporters and a whole lot of grace - so that she can give twenty five children the very best that she can - not to mention the widows and local families that she supports through the Orphanage.
Yet the support that she is receiving and what she herself can give each month just isn't enough! She really does need our help desperately. Living costs in India are increasing at an extortionate level. Tragically two children at the Orphanage recently almost lost their lives due to Pneumonia as there were insufficient funds to get the whole Orphanage heated to cope with the freezing cold temperatures. Gas cylinders are expensive to purchase and without a generator there isn't enough electricity for electric heaters to be used. The hospital fees for the treatment for one of the babies cost almost £2000!
We need to raise the funds to pay the hospital! The Orphanage needs to be heated up and the general maintenance of the Orphanage and School desperately needs our support!! They really do need a new generator so the electricity supply will be more regular - this will help to keep the Orphanage heated in the winter and cool in the Summer. This alone will cost more than £20,000.
And so I'm asking you to dig deep and give as much as you can to support the needs of the Orphanage - we need to raise thousands...starting TODAY!!
So please donate now! To find out exactly how your support will help please click on our Immanuel Orphanage Team Page below.
Anything and everything you can give will be appreciated. Please consider giving on a regular basis!!
Love and deep appreciation. xxx
