We develop new and cutting edge therapies to improve the life of cancer patients.

Story

I am running this marathon because it will take lots of training, which involve waking up early on weekends for my morning runs when I'd much rather stay in bed and sleep. At some point during my morning run, I will get tired and want to give up (as I have previously trained for other marathons and know this will occur). Similarly, I know that sometimes patients want to give up, not come to the clinic and not receive any treatment. I thus want to encourage MM patients to not give up, as I will also not give up and will continue running. So please help our non-profit institute (IMBCR) and donate what you can so that we can continue to find better therapies, monitoring methods (i.e., soluble BCMA) and to help scientists better understand how MM develops and thus how to prevent its growth.

About the charity

IMBCR
RCN 460475333
The Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) is proud to be an official charity of the 2018 Skechers Performance L.A. Marathon. Team IMBCR is raising money for the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research, the only independent non-profit cancer research institute dedicated to more effective treatment, and ultimately a cure, for myeloma and bone cancer. IMBCR’s innovative research provides cancer patients with greater longevity and an improved quality of life. Because of expanded drug therapy options and treatment combinations, IMBCR provides patients with an opportunity to enhance their chances of surviving cancer and conquer one of the hardest challenges of their lives. The team at IMBCR is working tirelessly to find a cure… and we are so close! With your help in fundraising, IMBCR can accelerate the advancement of scientific research and ultimately help grant millions of people freedom from the symptoms of myeloma and bone cancer. Thank you again for helping us continue our work to improve the lives and futures of those afflicted with these devastating diseases. If you would like to run, fundraise, or cheer us on, contact me at jriehl@imbcr.org or (310) 623-1214.
