Story
No doubt this past year has been tough for everyone but for my family it has been a little tougher than anyone ever expected. In May 2020 my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Hearing the words cancer is never a good thing, and being told someone you love has cancer is something you can never prepare for.
The moment I found out all I wanted to do was to wrap this person so precious to me in bubble wrap and protect them from the world that had dealt them this horrible card.
Many months later and my mum is still fighting this disease, she has stayed amazingly strong, even through the hardest of days, and this is, in part, down to her amazing strength of character but also down to the great care and support she received from the staff at the Royal Marsdon.
This hospital and charity has played a huge part in her life over this past year, and it is for that reason that I have chosen to switch fully to the endurance life.
I want to push myself mentally and physically, and challenge myself to something that can’t even bare a resemblance to the challenge of battling cancer.
I will be completing and Ironman 70.3 in August and then the London marathon to raise money for the Royal Marsdon so they can continue to give the best care to my mum and people just like her.
Any donations are welcome, big or small. Spread the love.
