Story
A year and a half ago I moved to London from a small Italian town of 15,000 souls. I knew how isolating and lonely it could get living among these 8 milion and something people in this wonderful city so I decided to join the closest local choir: Vox Holloway. Through Vox Holloway I found that sense of community I though I would never experience in such a vast city. I met incredible people, made friends and felt proud of giving my small contribution to the charity projects we raised money for through our concerts.
Our next concert is in aid of Hand in Hand for Syria, a charity which delivers food, clothes, shelter, ambulances, educational resources and medical treatment to thousands of people across Syria.
We are trying to raise more than £7,000 through with our concert on December 1, 7.30pm at St Luke’s Church, west Holloway.
The needs of the population are enormous at the moment and the priorities the charity sets on where to direct money can vary. From the lastest updates the biggest priority at the moment is doctors and medical staff wages in the desperate attempt to convince these precious people to stay in the country. The work of their doctors was reported by BBC Panorama on 30 September 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03c7m8s
Another project the charity is actively supporting is setting up a school in the city of Homs.
If you can make a donation and help my cause I would be very grateful!
