Story
As president of The Insurance Institute of Bristol I have nominated Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity in the hopes we can support the incredible work our hospitals do and have done for us.
You’re about to do a great thing! The money you donate to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity makes a real difference to the lives of millions of patients who need and use our hospitals. Working alongside University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust as their official NHS charity, Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity go above and beyond to transform patients' experiences and their
environments.
The projects Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity fund include:
- Menopause Clinic. A clinic for people who have experienced the
menopause due to cancer to access support including counselling, weight-management services and hormone replacement therapy.
A patient at the clinic said: “I’ve done so much research about menopause and it is all for older women, with kids and no cancer, which made me feel very alone. Speaking to people who understand and can answer and explain things specifically to me is fab!”
- A transport incubator for babies receiving lifesaving critical care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This lifesaving equipment maintains the correct conditions for when babies are being transported between the delivery suite and NICU and to Bristol Children’s Hospital for specialist procedures. Throughout these transfers, a transport incubator provides continuous patient monitoring to ensure safe, high quality critical care on the move.
- The Plasma Jet. A machine that provides innovative treatment for women with cervical cancer. It uses plasma energy to vaporise small spots of cancer from the bowel, spleen and liver, meaning patients spend less time in hospital, have a much lower chance of the cancer returning and have higher survival rates.
Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity is committed to funding world-class tech and research and championing equal access for all patients. Thank you for sharing my passion to support them and go above and beyond for our NHS.
