Story
Hello. Thank you for visiting the Keep Ironbridge Running! JustGiving page!
Did you know..... the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust protects and cares for some of the UK's most important heritage? The Ironbridge Gorge area in Shropshire is known as the birthplace of industry and the First Industrial Revolution. It was here that pioneering ideas regarding industrialisation started, making a major impact on society across the world that we still feel today.
A team from IGMT have decided to enter the extremely tough and hilly Ironbridge Half Marathon on Sunday 29th March 2020 to raise funds for one of the charity's most important fundraising appeals. The Fund for the Future appeal is raising funds to protect iconic grade II listed buildings and ancient monuments in the Coalbrookdale area of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, such as Abraham Darby's Old Furnace. We must work tirelessly to protect the landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge, and that is what we are going to do, to make sure that the story of Ironbridge is preserved for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy and be inspired by.
Every £1 you donate will be match-funded pound for pound by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Our target is to raise £1,750.... we want to raise more than that :)
Thank you for any donation you could make.Together, we can preserve our history for generations to come.
