Story
At 16 months old, our daughter Isla was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma - a rare form of bone cancer.
Overnight, our family was thrown into the world of childhood cancer. Isla deteriorated rapidly. Unable to breathe on her own, she was intubated and spent a significant time sedated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Isla's first round of chemo resulted in a 15% reduction of her tumour. Slowly, she was weaned out of sedation.
Isla continued her battle. She reached a point within her treatment where she required Proton Radiation Therapy. This required our family to relocate 4,000 miles to Jacksonville for 2 months.
14 rounds of chemo & 31 doses of radiation later, we got the best news: "our girl was in remission!"
Throughout Isla's journey, It's Good 2 Give were there. Through numerous hospital stays, chemotherapy sessions, radiation, blood tests, hair loss, sickness drugs, blood transfusions... the list goes on!
Isla rang the bell to symbolise the end of her treatment on March 5, 2019. She is doing fantastic and our lives are back on track... and It's Good 2 Give are still here, supporting us.
Life may be different, with "scan anxiety", X-Rays and MRIs, but It's Good 2 Give are still there, supporting us and many families.
As a family, we all would like to give something back. With support, It's Good 2 Give can continue to deliver on their promise to support young cancer patients across Scotland.
