Story
Why are we doing it?
Last summer during a stag weekend in Munich of few of us were inspired by Justin's new 'if you're bored , train' philosophy and agreed to run a marathon. A marathon is something that puts everyone to the test with regards to the time taken out leading up to the day and the fact you have to run 26.2 miles is something many people can never dream of doing. We've chosen New York as many professional runners talk about it as an amazing experience with huge crowds, great views and the fantastic support amongst the runners… not to mention an excuse for a shopping trip for the girls!
Why the County Air Ambulance Trust?
In May 2000 and at just 6 months old, Matt's nephew Danny's life was tragically taken in a road accident to which the County Air Ambulance Trust was called. Since then his family have been involved in fundraising for the County Air Ambulance ranging from local events to climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
For us, the County Air Ambulance is a charity that needs a lot of funding and is vital in saving lives. Without support from the public this service will not remain and response rates in parts of the country to people who have suffered life threatening injuries will suffer. We're pleased to offer our support for this charity and our motivation for those hard runs when you don’t fancy it will be made up for by doing well on the day and raising money to help others in the future who’d life will be saved through the Air Ambulance response team.
We look forward to the challenge of training for and running a marathon knowing that every step of the way we'll be raising money for a worthy cause.
With no financial support from the Government, National Lottery or the NHS, 6 Air Ambulance helicopters serve an area of 8,000sq miles covering 10 Counties and over 7.8 million people. What started as 1 helicopter in 1991 has now flown over 30,000 missions.
The Golden Hour is the 60 minute period between a serious incident and treatment. Every second of every minute counts during the Golden Hour. If you are critically injured you often have less than 60 minutes to survive. There is often a Golden Hour between life and death - getting to a specialist trauma centre within those crucial 60 minutes can make all the difference.
YOUR SUPPORT WILL SAVE LIVES.
