Story

London Marathon 2018 Update

To everyone, who gave and are still planning to give, thank you sooo muchhhh and the fight continues.  The run was dedicated to the memory of a good friend and to every man that receives the news that they have Prostate Cancer, which is a lot harder than running 26 miles.

Please continue to donate and help spread the word that Prostate Cancer survival rates are great, if we are aware of the problem first. As a community lets stop PROSTATE CANCER BEING A KILLER, by being proactive. Please check out the great work that the charity is doing by going to their website www.prostatecanceruk.org

P.S. I never thought I would hear the day when I would complain that its too hot! :-)

A Quick Story

I had a friend who had a partner and 2 young children and he was in his forties. He passed away in 2015 - cause of death Prostate Cancer.

The Problem

It was caught too late.

The Facts

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in the UK (2014).

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.

Prostate Cancer in England is less common in males living in the most deprived areas.

Over the last decade, prostate cancer incidence rates in males have increased by around a twentieth (5%) in the UK.

Men don't talk about personal issues.

A Summary

Even for men who don't get prostate cancer, many will find themselves dealing with BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperlasia) also known as an enlarged prostate. Although the causes of an enlarged prostate are not totally understood, one of the suspects is testosterone. As the hormone breaks down in the body, a by product, Dihydrotestosterone, is produced that may contribute to the growth of the prostate. By the time men reach 55 years old, half of the male population will have BPH. By 65 that number is 75% and by age 80, 90%. If you are a man, you will almost certainly develop some symptons of BPH as you age.
