Story
The Situation
Pakistan is currently set to be facing severe water scarcity by the year 2040. 80 percent of people living in 24 major cities within Pakistan, do not have access to clean water.
In areas like the Tharparkar district of Pakistan, acute water shortages have increased due to diminished rainfall and increased desertification linked to climate change. Droughts are increasingly common.
Groundwater, which is only accessible by building water wells, is the primary major water source for 1.67 million people in the region, mostly residing in thousands of rural villages.
How You Can Help
IDRF, in partnership with local communities, is addressing these ongoing issues by building water wells.
It Costs $4000 to Build 1 Solar Water Well.
One water well will provide clean drinking water to 500 people.
FAQs can be found over at the IDRF website.
Please note:
90% of all proceeds will go directly to water Wells in Pakistan and 10% for operational and admin costs through IDRF, a registered Canadian Charitable Organization (Registration No. 132542705RR0001).
